About The Position

South Metro Animal Emergency Care (SMAEC), a growing, 24/7, AAHA-accredited emergency hospital in Apple Valley, Minnesota, is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to lead overnight operations in its Emergency and Critical Care department. The role involves leading, mentoring, and developing technicians and assistants while providing emergency and critical care in a collaborative, technician-forward environment. Technicians have an active voice in patient care, treatment decisions, and hospital flow, and work directly with DVMs with strong staffing support—typically two credentialed technicians and two veterinary assistants per doctor. The Lead LVT partners with the Hospital Leadership Team and Medical Director on clinical goals, hospital operations, workflow improvements, team performance, and department growth. Cases include toxins, foreign bodies, urinary obstructions, respiratory emergencies, trauma, surgical emergencies, and hospitalized or critical patients. Available shift lengths are 8, 10, or 12 hours, with swing and overnight options; the posted role is overnight. Compensation is $34–$38 per hour based on experience, with a $6-per-hour overnight differential for 8 PM–8 AM and a $2-per-hour weekend differential. A $2,500 sign-on bonus is paid after six months of employment.
