About The Position

South Metro Animal Emergency Care is seeking a credentialed veterinary technician for its growing, 24/7, AAHA-accredited emergency hospital in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Technicians practice at the top of their license and have a voice in patient care, treatment decisions, and hospital flow. The role involves working directly with veterinarians in a collaborative, technician-forward environment with strong staffing support, typically two CVT/LVTs and two veterinary assistants per doctor. The hospital treats cases including toxins, foreign bodies, urinary obstructions, respiratory emergencies, trauma, surgical emergencies, and hospitalized or critical patients. Shifts are 8, 10, or 12 hours, with swing and overnight options. Experienced emergency technicians and general-practice technicians transitioning to emergency medicine are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Be a credentialed veterinary technician (CVT/LVT).

Nice To Haves

Experience as an emergency veterinary technician, or strong general-practice technician experience with an interest in transitioning to emergency medicine.

Responsibilities

Perform initial triage and collaborate directly with doctors of veterinary medicine.
Review treatment plans with clients and answer their questions empathetically and confidently.
Place IV catheters, NG tubes, central lines, and PICC lines.
Apply splints and bandages.
Run and monitor anesthesia for surgical procedures.
Perform and oversee treatments for hospitalized patients.
Monitor and advocate for patients throughout their stay.
Mentor teammates and support a collaborative team.
