About The Position

The DiSTI Corporation, a leader in graphical user interface software and customized 3D training solutions, is seeking a Lead Instructional Systems Designer. This role involves leading a team of ISDs to create high-quality instructional materials for complex technical systems and products for defense and commercial clients. The ideal candidate will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams to develop effective learning experiences, leveraging expertise in instructional design principles, learning theory, and visual design. Experience with interactive e-learning across multiple delivery modalities and a strong ability to collaborate are essential. Work arrangements and on-site requirements may vary by project.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of direct ISD experience, with 3+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Academic background in instructional design, educational technology, or related field.
  • Expertise in multimedia principles applicable to the design/development phases of the ADDIE Model.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences (technical teams, leadership, customers).
  • Experience working in deadline-driven, high-expectation environments.
  • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Frequently communicates with clients, team members, etc.
  • Only US citizens are eligible for this role due to contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of ISDs, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Guide project execution by directing team efforts, removing obstacles, and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Perform work with limited direction.
  • Apply creative problem-solving to complex instructional design challenges.
  • Advise project leadership on training strategies, emerging learning technologies, and best practices.
  • Establish and enforce instructional design policies, standards, and quality benchmarks.
  • Scale design operations to meet evolving program demands.
  • Apply instructional design principles and learning theory to create effective training for diverse audiences.
  • Manage collaboration across a cross-functional team including a large number of Subject Matter Experts (engineers, maintainers, operators) to ensure technical accuracy and instructional effectiveness.
  • Monitor project health under Project Manager direction, tracking progress against goals, schedules, and budgets; identifying and mitigating risks proactively to keep projects on track.
