About The Position
Ledcor Highways Ltd. is seeking experienced professionals to support their Foreperson and highway maintenance crews. This role requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to safety and teamwork, and expertise in heavy equipment operation. The Lead Hand will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of the team and the safety of the traveling public. Requirements
- Valid Class 1, 2 or 3 driver’s license with air endorsement and a clear 3-year driver's abstract
- Previous supervisory experience in highway maintenance, road construction, bridges or related field is required
- Strong understanding of provincial and/or municipal highway maintenance specifications
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Computer skills are an asset
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol and audiogram testing
Nice To Haves
- Snow plow experience is preferred
Responsibilities
- Operate snowplow trucks, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment as required
- Maintain Alberta Provincial Highways year-round, including assisting with Labourer duties (crack sealing, pothole repair, bridge and signage cleaning, hazard remediation, etc.)
- Work outside in all weather conditions
- Assist leadership with daily tasks including safety toolbox meetings, equipment inspection, and road condition inspection reports
- Support Foreperson in the planning of work to meet contractual milestones
- Monitor the quality of work performed by the crew
- Help ensure health, safety, and environment related concerns are addressed promptly
