About the position

The job overview for this position is that Socialpoint, a mobile games studio based in Barcelona, is seeking a Game Designer for their Live Games. The role involves leading the Economy of the game and supporting the Game Leads in their growth. The Game Designer will be responsible for setting the direction of the game design, managing a team of designers, and designing systems and features for mobile games. They will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, present proposals, iterate on ideas, and perform balancing as needed. The ideal candidate should have a passion for games, excellent communication skills, and extensive knowledge of the mobile gaming market.

Responsibilities

Set the direction of the game design for the game.
Manage a team of game designers and enable them to grow and contribute their best efforts.
Design systems and/or features for a live or new game for the mobile market.
Transform high-level goals into detailed specifications that developers can understand and execute.
Cooperate with a multidisciplinary team, providing design inputs and own designs from concept to launch.
Present proposals for games or features and work closely with the product team to define goals and follow up on results.
Iterate on ideas, fine-tuning features, and testing them with the team and players.
Perform balancing on areas of the game as needed (combat, progression, rewards, controls, etc.).
Innovate, take risks, try, fail, try again, learn, and grow.
Have ownership over your own process and be surrounded by inspiring professionals.
Be passionate about games and have an intuitive and deep sense for fun.
Have excellent communication and team-player attitude, always open to collaborating and getting feedback.
Have great focus and organization, able to solve problems one by one before moving to the next one.
Be able to abstract problems and think in terms of systems, functions, and experience.
Have strong numerical skills and experience with visualizing numbers in a readable format.
Have extensive knowledge of the mobile gaming market and familiar with popular titles.
Understand free-to-play mechanics, monetization, and best practices.
Have an extensive background as a gamer, especially on mobile.
Have 4+ years of experience in game design, with 1+ years on a live game with at least 1 full release cycle.
Have excellent written and verbal English skills.
Familiarity with conceptualizing, setting, and running AB tests (bonus).
Have an analytical mindset and understanding of basic product KPIs (bonus).
Have knowledge and experience with complex in-game economies (bonus).
