About The Position

Blend is seeking a Lead FullStack Engineer to support its growth and expansion. The role leads backend architecture and API design using Python and Flask, including service-layer ownership, code reviews, and guidance on backend patterns across full-stack projects. It designs scalable REST and asynchronous APIs with clean separation between service and data-access layers. The engineer also develops production-grade frontend features with React and TypeScript, collaborates with UI teams, and ensures effective frontend-backend integration. The role architects and manages production cloud infrastructure on GCP, designs and optimizes database solutions using Google Spanner and SQL, and uses BigQuery for analytics and reporting. Responsibilities span testing across backend, frontend, and end-to-end layers; establishing CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and Docker; promoting security practices; and using AI-assisted development tools. The engineer mentors junior and mid-level colleagues and owns technical delivery across feature teams, aligning architecture, testing standards, and deployment readiness.

Requirements

Deep expertise in Python and strong proficiency with Flask or similar backend web frameworks.
Strong hands-on React and TypeScript experience, including building production-grade frontend features and collaborating on UI/UX delivery.
Proven experience designing and building REST APIs and service-oriented architectures with a focus on scalability and maintainability.
Solid understanding of SQL, database design, and data modeling best practices.
Practical GCP experience, including Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, and basic IAM and monitoring.
Experience with testing strategies and tools including pytest, Jest, React Testing Library, and an end-to-end testing framework such as Playwright.
Familiarity with CI/CD practices, GitHub Actions, and Docker containerization.
Understanding of security best practices, including dependency management, secrets and configuration handling, and secure development workflows.
Ability to serve as a technical lead, mentor others, and own architectural decisions across full-stack domains.
Experience with or strong aptitude for AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
6+ years of experience in full-stack development or related disciplines such as backend engineering or frontend development, with demonstrated expertise leading technical delivery across multiple layers of the stack.
Advanced English proficiency, required for effective communication with global teams.

Responsibilities

Lead backend architecture and API design using Python and Flask, including service-layer ownership, code reviews, and backend pattern guidance.

Establish CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Docker to automate deployments, testing, and releases.
Champion security best practices, including dependency management with Snyk, secrets and configuration management, and secure development workflows.
Use AI-assisted development tools and workflows for code exploration, test generation, debugging, and productivity improvements.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on full-stack patterns, code quality, and technical leadership.
Own technical delivery across feature teams and align architecture decisions, testing standards, and deployment readiness.
