About The Position

The Lead Food Service Worker prepares and serves a variety of food items according to assigned work instructions and menus in a correctional setting. The position is onsite inside a jail or correctional facility and reports to the Food Service Director. The role includes preparing food, helping team members with preparation, serving meals, maintaining a clean and food-safe workstation, and completing routine kitchen tasks. The position requires physical activity, including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food and assist team members in preparing quality foods according to planned menus, recipes, and work instructions, promptly.
• Clean and maintain a neat, food-safe workstation, including cleaning as you go.
• Pull trash, sweep, and mop.
• Serve food during planned meal schedules and according to department procedures.
• Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook food according to recipes.
• Follow food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage.
• Perform routine kitchen tasks while maintaining organization and cleanliness.
• Carry out other responsibilities as determined by the employer’s needs.
