About The Position

The Lead Food Service Worker prepares and serves a variety of foods according to assigned work instructions and menus in a correctional setting. The position is located onsite inside a jail or correctional facility and reports to the Food Service Director. The schedule is 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., with availability to work some weekends and holidays. The role includes preparing food, serving scheduled meals, maintaining a clean and food-safe workstation, and completing routine kitchen tasks. The position has physical demands, including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food and assist team members in preparing quality foods according to the planned menu, recipes, and work instructions.
• Serve food during planned meal schedules and according to department procedures.
• Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook food according to recipes.
• Follow food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage.
• Perform routine kitchen tasks while staying organized and maintaining cleanliness.
• Clean and maintain a neat, food-safe workstation, including pulling trash, sweeping, and mopping.
• Carry out other responsibilities as determined by business needs.
