About The Position
The Lead Food Service Worker prepares and serves a variety of food items according to assigned work instructions and menus in a correctional setting. This is an onsite position inside a jail or correctional facility and reports to the Food Service Director. The role includes preparing and serving meals, maintaining a clean and food-safe workstation, following food safety requirements, and completing routine kitchen tasks. The position requires availability to work some weekends and holidays, from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods and be on one's feet for much of the scheduled shift.
- Must be available to work some weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work as a team member, adapt quickly to changes, and remain flexible.
- Understanding of food handling regulations.

Responsibilities
- Prepare food and assist team members with preparing quality foods according to planned menus, recipes, and work instructions, promptly.
- Clean and maintain a neat, food-safe workstation; pull trash, sweep, and mop.
- Serve food during planned meal schedules according to department procedures.
- Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook food according to recipes.
- Follow food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage.
- Perform routine kitchen tasks while staying organized and maintaining cleanliness.
- Carry out other responsibilities as determined by operational needs.
