About The Position

Community Options, Inc., a national nonprofit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 11 states, is hiring full-time Senior Direct Support Professionals in Amarillo, Texas. The role provides person-centered care tailored to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The starting pay is $13.50 per hour. A $250 employee referral bonus is available when the referred employee successfully completes the 90-day introductory/probationary period, subject to the Executive Director’s approval and performance standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
Ability to establish comfortable and supportive relationships with individuals receiving supports.
Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations.
Successful completion of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug checks is a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Assist with daily routines, including cleaning, cooking, feeding, medication administration, and personal hygiene.
Monitor individuals’ health and medical needs and immediately report concerns.
Assist individuals in learning and developing independent and community-based skills.
Participate with individuals in community, social, and recreational activities.
Drive individuals to medical appointments and community activities.
Complete program documentation and billable records accurately and on time.
Develop and maintain relationships with community members, businesses, and families to build individuals’ support networks.
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Cooperate with license and department staff during inspections, inquiries, or investigations.
