About The Position

Peachford Hospital is seeking a Lead Assessment Counselor for its busy 24/7 Intake Department. The role assesses callers and patients presenting with mental health or addictive disease treatment needs and helps ensure they receive an appropriate level of care, which may include hospital admission or referral to a community service or resource. The position includes leadership responsibilities such as effective communication, coaching and development, proactive problem resolution, and assigned management duties. The role is scheduled weekdays, Monday through Wednesday, from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Peachford Hospital provides behavioral healthcare, including inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs.

Requirements

At least one year of intake/assessment experience, preferably in a crisis intervention environment.
Master’s degree in counseling or a related field.
Must be license-eligible.
Two to five years of leadership experience.

Responsibilities

Respond to telephone and face-to-face inquiries seeking mental health services.
Conduct clinical assessments and determine appropriate treatment options.
Ensure patients and families understand the admissions and treatment process.
Discuss clinical issues with physicians to determine next steps.
Collaborate with other departments to address patient needs.
Demonstrate effective communication, coaching, and development as a leader.
Act proactively in problem resolution.
Perform assigned management duties.
Ensure callers and patients receive an appropriate level of care, including hospital admission or referral to community services or resources.
