Commonwealth Fusion SystemsDevens, MA
$32 - $52Onsite

About The Position

Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) is on a mission to deliver the urgent transition to fusion energy by designing and building commercially viable fusion power plants. Combining decades of research, top talent, and new technologies, CFS is working with policymakers and suppliers to build the energy industry of the future. Since 2018, CFS has raised nearly $3 billion in capital, making it the largest and leading private fusion company in the world. The company is seeking individuals who will bring new perspectives, solve tough problems, and thrive as part of a team to accelerate the development of fusion energy. As a Lead Technician on the Assembly Team at CFS, you will be responsible for overseeing and organizing small technician teams to conduct all assembly activities for the construction of the SPARC Tokamak. This involves the handling, alignment, and mechanical integration of large electromagnetic coils, vacuum vessels, instrumentation systems, support structures, tooling and manipulation equipment, diagnostic systems, and superconducting cable bundles into a tightly packed and highly integrated central device. You will leverage your extensive experience in building and handling large equipment, structures, or plant systems to ensure efficient and high-quality completion of SPARC. Your role will include organizing daily work orders according to the schedule, assigning technicians, adjusting assignments based on previous work or issues, conducting morning briefs and shift hand-off reports, and guiding all activity in the assembly work areas. You will collaborate directly with engineers, the metrology group, the quality group, and other team members to ensure precise component completion and to identify and resolve issues during the build process. You will work with other technicians and leads in a dynamic and flexible workplace that adapts focus and priority as needed to meet the schedule for completing the next-generation tokamak device. This role offers a unique opportunity to use hands-on assembly skills to accelerate fusion energy development by ensuring SPARC is built on time and to high quality.
