About The Position

Somafina is seeking an Encapsulation Lead for the Third Shift (10:00 PM - 6:30 AM). This role is responsible for ensuring all personnel are properly trained, adhere to quality and safety standards, and that shift transitions are smooth. The lead will oversee the work of Encapsulation Technicians, ensuring machines and processes meet quality, control, and efficiency expectations, including time standards for cleaning, assembly, and processing. The position involves completing written reports, organizing and managing incoming product, supplying operators with necessary materials, and processing finished capsules. Additionally, the lead will ensure supplies are available for the team, assist with machine setup and sanitation, and verify finished product against work orders. This role also requires contributing to department team incentive goals based on productivity and accuracy, and supporting company policies and safety programs. A clean and orderly work area must be maintained.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to write, read and comprehend simple instructions in English, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic computer skills to input data into the database.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current food handler's permit.
  • English Proficiency required.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and converse and listen.
  • Must exert up to 90 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 40 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all personnel, full-time or temporary, have the necessary training before working in the area.
  • Ensure employees follow quality, safety, and other work standards and policies, with the empowerment to initiate and implement disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient transition of shifts.
  • Ensure Encaps Tech’s are following Machine/Operator work order assignments.
  • Monitor processes to ensure they meet expectations of quality, machine control, and work efficiency.
  • Ensure time standards for cleaning rooms and machines, assembling machines, and processing the product are met.
  • Complete written reports as needed and distribute them in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that incoming product is organized, accessible, free of contamination, and easily identified.
  • Supply operators with materials as needed, including powder barrels, empty barrels lined with clean plastic bags, capsules, plastic bags, and tools.
  • Remove and process barrels of finished capsules from the encapsulating rooms as soon as they come out, including weighing, logging, labeling, and keeping them separate from other product.
  • Ensure supplies are available for team members as needed, including gloves, shoe covers, masks, zip ties, and scale trays.
  • Ensure Tech’s are assisting operators with machine setup by providing them with clean parts or other necessary items.
  • Ensure Tech’s are assisting operators with cleanup and sanitation of the rooms as needed.
  • Check finished product against Work Order to ensure everything is correct and report any errors to the supervisor.
  • Contribute to department team incentive goals.
  • Support and participate in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs, and activities.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
