Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) is seeking a highly motivated Lead NDT technician to oversee a team of NDT technicians performing critical inspections of components for the SPARC project. Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience in aerospace, nuclear, power, or petrochemical industries
  • NDT level II certification (RT, PT, VT)
  • 40 hour radiation safety training
  • Radiation safety card holder, valid in MA
  • 5+ years of experience inspecting welds, braze, and/or solder joints
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Perform activities such as typing, standing, stooping, climbing, and sitting for extended periods of time
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, and cryogenics

  • Dimensional inspection experience
  • Additional NDT certifications
  • Experience using digital x-ray equipment and software (CR, DR)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise one shift of NDT technicians, responsible for conducting inspections on critical components
  • Carry out in-process inspection of weldments and soldered structures using radiography (x-ray), visual, penetrant and other non-destructive techniques
  • Prepare and document detailed inspection reports and nonconformances as needed
  • Analyze and interpret inspection and NDT requirements related to austenitic steels, copper, titanium, and other alloys
  • Review and approve inspection and material test reports from vendors
  • Support ISO 9001:2015 activities on the shopfloor
  • Review blueprints and documentation to ensure appropriate materials are used and specifications are followed
  • Interface with technicians on issues related to quality and help them in understanding and interpreting quality specifications and technical drawings
