$80,000 - $105,000Remote

About The Position

WeMaintain is seeking a Lead Analytics Engineer to join their Product & Engineering team. This is a full remote role based in Europe. The position is described as having two main focuses: supporting the CTO on data initiatives and assisting the Global Head of Operations in making the company data-driven. The role involves bringing new data into the data lake, owning the modeling layer (currently dbt on BigQuery), defining and measuring operational KPIs in collaboration with the Head of Operations, standardizing practices across four countries (UK, France, Singapore, Hong Kong), building new analyses (e.g., churn prediction, contract economics, engineer productivity), managing BigQuery costs, extending the platform, and setting data standards for the engineering team. The role also emphasizes the use of AI tooling and understanding the impact of data on field operations. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with no direct reports.

Requirements

  • Experience owning a data platform end-to-end, from ingestion to leadership reporting, ideally without a large team.
  • Experience with both data pipeline development and business-facing data analysis.
  • Fluent in SQL, data lakes, transformation, and ETL.
  • Comfortable being a standard-bearer without direct authority, using influence and credibility.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with operators, understand their problems, and guide them on measurement.
  • Ability to bring structure to messy operational data.
  • Comfortable working fully remotely across four countries and two continents, and taking initiative to stay close to people.
  • English as the working language.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience starting, running, or building something of your own, judging work by its impact.
  • Experience in an operations-heavy business (field service, logistics, industrial, energy).
  • Experience with IoT or time-series data.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt, BigQuery, or Looker.
  • Experience introducing AI tooling into a data team successfully.
  • Experience working across multiple countries and understanding process variations.

Responsibilities

  • Bring new data into the lake, constantly, from new sources or new fields from existing sources.
  • Own the modeling layer, including dbt on BigQuery, models, tests, documentation, and reliability, and decide on its future evolution.
  • Define what "good" looks like for operational KPIs in collaboration with the Global Head of Operations.
  • Help establish and roll out standardized practices across four countries (UK, France, Singapore, Hong Kong).
  • Build new analyses such as client churn prediction, contract-level economics, engineer productivity, and IoT device usage patterns.
  • Manage BigQuery cost control and extend the platform where needed (e.g., UDFs, signed links, LLMs).
  • Set data standards for the engineering team and ensure they are followed.
  • Utilize AI tooling to enhance data capabilities and operations.

Benefits

  • Autonomy, with the tools and the support to use it
  • A culture built on trust and transparency
  • Opportunities for growth and internal mobility
  • A team that values commitment and follow-through
  • Full remote work
  • Team get-togethers in person three times a year
  • Compensation adapted to the candidate's country of location and aligned with local market benchmarks (€80,000 – €105,000 base salary)
