About The Position

As a Surveyor for Fessler & Bowman, you will assist field team members with projects by staking out sites and developing layouts. You will work closely with Foremen to support production, customer satisfaction, and the company’s reputation. The role involves working independently and safely with a Foreman or Project Manager to solve field problems, leading and managing a crew, and supporting field teams through physical labor and equipment operation. Travel to surrounding job sites may be required; per diem is provided for travel and overnight stays when applicable. Work may take place in varied environments, including high or low temperatures, areas near traffic, loud and frequent noise, confined spaces, heights, and indoor or outdoor settings.

Requirements

At least one year of experience in the construction industry.
Experience with elevations.
Knowledge of Trimble GPS systems.
Ability to work independently and safely in coordination with a Foreman or Project Manager.
Experience leading and managing a crew.
Willingness to travel to surrounding job sites.
Ability to work in varied environments, including high or low temperatures, areas close to traffic, loud and frequent noise, confined spaces, heights, and indoor or outdoor settings.

Responsibilities

Assist the Foreman with plan layout and site stakeout as needed.
Transfer reference points and alignments from design drawings to the site to enable construction.
Read blueprints and lay out jobs, primarily sidewalks, slabs, and walls, with experience setting forms.
Lay out storm sewer, sanitary sewer, watermain, parking lots, curbs, and building pads.
Set up GPS units using control points and blueprints.
Work independently and safely with a Foreman or Project Manager to solve problems in the field.
Lead and manage a crew to produce quality results.
Support field teams through physical labor and equipment operation.
Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.
Travel to surrounding job sites when required.
