About The Position

Gaylor Electric, Inc. is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Construction Layout Technician / Construction Surveyor to perform electrical construction layout on large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects. The role uses robotic total stations and GNSS equipment and supports accurate field layout, point staking, as-built data collection, and coordination with project management and field operations to help ensure successful project execution.

The technician reports to assigned job sites as directed, works outdoors and on construction sites in all weather conditions, and provides work control lines and elevations so field staff can accurately measure and install materials. The position requires compliance with company and job-site safety requirements.

Requirements

• High school graduate, GED holder, or equivalent studies/experience.
• Proficiency in survey data collection, including setting up and operating GPS receivers and robotic total stations.
• Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
• Strong mathematical background and ability to perform surveying calculations.
• Strong administrative, computer (Word and Excel), and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of land survey and/or construction experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineered drawings.
• Operate Trimble/GPS and total station data collectors with minimal supervision.
• Collect as-built data.
• Report punctually to assigned job-site locations as directed.
• Understand and comply with company and job-site safety requirements.
• Work outdoors and on construction sites in all weather conditions.
• Provide work control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials by field staff.
• Assist with field layout, point staking, and coordination with project management and field operations.
