Traveling Construction Layout Technician - Per Diem
About The Position
Brasfield & Gorrie hires construction layout technicians and field engineers year-round and matches applicants to projects that fit their experience and timing. The role offers full-time, steady work across multiple active projects, with opportunities to advance from rodman to field engineer and beyond. When a project wraps, the company works to move employees to another project. The work involves construction layout and field surveying using robotic total stations; establishing and maintaining project control; laying out building grids, foundations, slabs, walls, and site utilities; checking as-builts and elevations; and processing survey data in Leica and AutoCAD. Projects may include multifamily and mixed-use, healthcare and hospitals, education, hotels and hospitality, office and commercial, advanced manufacturing and data centers, and water and wastewater. Equipment, including robotic total stations and data collectors, is provided.
Requirements
- Ability to read plans, shop drawings, and survey control.
- Working knowledge of algebra and trigonometry.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather and at heights.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
Nice To Haves
- 2+ years of construction layout or surveying experience preferred; 5+ years for field engineer, party chief, or crew chief roles.
- Experience with Leica robotic total stations, Carlson, and AutoCAD preferred.
Responsibilities
