About The Position

The Department of Law, Criminal Division is recruiting for a Law Office Manager in Fairbanks! This position is open to Alaska Residents only. The Fairbanks Law Office Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of both the Fairbanks and Utqiagvik District Attorney's Offices. This role includes providing leadership and direction to administrative support staff, executing administrative duties such as managing financial documents, handling human resource tasks, coordinating travel arrangements, maintaining office equipment, and working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external agencies to ensure efficient task completion. In this role, you will become a member of the management team that facilitates prosecutors' work in ensuring accountability for criminal offenses. This position offers both engaging and challenging responsibilities, including oversight of administrative support functions for one of the state's largest district attorney's offices. The scope of duties is extensive, providing a dynamic environment with continual opportunities for professional growth.

Requirements

  • Legal, Government, and Jurisprudence: Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, legal practices and documents, Government regulations, Executive orders, agency rules, Government organization and functions, and the democratic political process.
  • Managing Human Resources: Plans, distributes, coordinates, and monitors work assignments of others; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance; ensures that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed, and that they are treated in a fair and equitable manner.

  • Training and/or experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, legal secretary, or in criminal justice, administrative office technology, business and marketing management, entrepreneurship, office assistance, or similar fields, and/or progressively responsible experience preparing and processing legal documents and correspondence in a legal office or law enforcement environment or performing a variety of administrative support functions for an office.
  • Must maintain the strictest of confidences with information they will be exposed to and have access to.
  • Ability to tolerate some exposure to graphic pictures, coarse language, and detailed descriptions of sometimes horrific criminal acts.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a limited government Notary.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check to meet security requirements for using criminal record networks such as APSIN and NCIC/NLETS.
