Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required, completed by the start date.
  • Active member of the Utah Bar.
  • Knowledge of Global Data Law.
  • Significant teaching experience.
  • Must be an active member of the Utah Bar.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • All employees are required to abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a course on Global Data Law, exploring how U.S. and global data laws shape decision-making for governments, businesses, and individuals.
  • Cover topics including AI, privacy, cybersecurity, intellectual property, social media, biometrics, and cross-border data use, with a focus on real-world legal and regulatory challenges.
  • Guide students through case studies and practical exercises to apply legal frameworks by assessing risk, developing compliance strategies, and advising on data-related issues.
  • Address questions related to the class outside of scheduled teaching time.
  • Support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.
