About The Position

Lower Columbia College is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and creative adjunct instructor to teach a course in Business Law related to LCC’s professional-technical degree in Business Management and the Business Transfer program. The Business Law course introduces the law, sources of law, legal thinking, structure of courts, alternative dispute resolution, basic civil procedure, business organization, government constitutional authority and regulation, agency, employment, and criminal law as relating to business, real property and landlord/tenant law, torts, international business law issues, and ethics. Extensive concentration will be on contract law, including Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code. Contract rates: Lecture rate is $80.68 per contact hour ($887.48 per credit). Lab rate is $60.08 per contact hour ($1,321.76 per credit). Field-based experience rate is $43.64 per contact hour ($1,440.16 per credit). Adjunct faculty are hired on a quarterly basis as needed. While this position is scheduled to remain open until the listed closing date, we reserve the right to close the application window early due to high volume. Requirements

  • Juris Doctor Degree
  • Two years of professional experience

Nice To Haves

  • Four or more years of professional work experience in areas related to Business.
  • Successful college teaching experience in a Business or Law field.
  • Experience using technology to enhance student learning, including using a Learning Management System.
  • Ability to communicate knowledge and skills in both oral and written forms to students who represent a broad spectrum of ages, abilities, ethnicity, education, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to work with the community and industry partners to create training and curriculum to meet the workforce needs
  • Relatable education, experience, and skills
  • Applicants must currently reside in Washington or Oregon, or be willing to relocate to one of these states.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality instruction in the classroom and online, adapting to a variety of teaching/learning situations, and maintaining up-to-date content.
  • Effectively use computer applications/technology for instruction and communication as appropriate
  • Assess, evaluate, and document student learning and achievement of course outcomes, and provide timely feedback to support learning, including providing individualized support
  • Communicate and interact effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as a member of the educational team.
  • Uphold LCC policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
