About The Position
Performs general laundry and housekeeping/cleaning duties to provide quality laundry service and maintain the nursing home in a sanitary manner and free from offensive odors. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. The employee follows sanitary procedures, uses laundry equipment and supplies safely, maintains laundry supplies, and reports equipment issues to the Administrator.
Requirements
- GED or high school diploma.
- Ability to read and understand directions related to laundry and housekeeping procedures.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to problem-solve and seek assistance when needed.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear; frequent use of industrial washers, dryers, and related laundry/housekeeping equipment.
Nice To Haves
- One year of experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Make clean linen available in quantities sufficient for the proper care and comfort of residents.
- Keep linen in good repair and remove items with holes or stains from service.
- Collect laundry from residents daily or as needed.
- Label new residents’ clothing items as needed.
- Sort, treat, wash, dry, and fold clothing and linens.
- Deliver clean laundry items to resident rooms.
- Follow sanitary processes and procedures related to laundry duties.
- Maintain an inventory of laundry supplies.
- Use laundry equipment and supplies safely.
- Report laundry equipment issues to the Administrator.
