About The Position

Yakima Valley School Residential Habilitation Center is seeking a Laundry Worker 2 to help operate a large industrial laundry facility. The role schedules, coordinates, and performs all phases of laundry activities and washroom operations while following pandemic guidelines. It restores soiled textiles, processes clean textiles, and distributes them to meet customer needs with high-quality textiles in a timely and cost-effective manner. The position is performed on-site. Opportunities performed at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Requirements

• Six months of experience as a Laundry Worker 1, or equivalent, in a large commercial or large industrial laundry. Completion of a training course in laundry operations may substitute for three months of the required experience.
• Knowledge of commercial practices, procedures, and equipment.
• Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
• Kind demeanor and ability to treat clients, staff, and students with dignity and respect.
• Ability to maintain the confidentiality of clients and personal information.
• Commitment to fairness, access, and social justice in work with DSHS.

Responsibilities

• Process linen for the institution to the expected standard of the Appointing Authority, including daily decontamination tasks such as sorting, washer and dryer deck activities, processing, folding, and filling outgoing orders.
• Operate large commercial washers and dryers.
• Change chemicals as needed.
• File daily linen orders in the linen room.
• Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety.
• Follow written and oral directions.
• Assist co-workers and students in performing a variety of laundry work.
• Schedule, coordinate, and perform laundry activities and washroom operations.
