About The Position

The Laundry Attendant works with the Housekeeping Management Team in the commercial laundry facility, cleaning and storing linens in a timely, organized manner to meet the hotel’s laundry and linen needs. The role may also include cleaning guest rooms and public spaces according to brand standards for timing, products, and placement, with the goal of ensuring guest satisfaction.

Requirements

• Some previous commercial laundry experience is preferred.
• Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English is preferred; other languages are beneficial.
• Basic reading, writing, and mathematical abilities are preferred.
• Frequently stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move about the facility.
• Carry, lift, or pull items weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Regularly use commercial cleaning chemicals.
• Work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Previous background in the extended-stay industry.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Sonesta Service in interactions with guests and clients according to Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
• Receive soiled laundry and sort articles by type, color, and degree of soil; inspect laundry and linens and record damaged or stained items.
• Operate washers and dryers according to hotel standards and manufacturers’ guidelines.
• Monitor laundry supplies and equipment to ensure adequate supplies and proper working order.
• Fold and store clean linens and report damaged items to a supervisor.
• Clean and service assigned rooms or areas, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing bathrooms, and removing trash; tasks may include cleaning kitchen areas and appliances.
• Notify a supervisor when service is complete and report rooms or areas that cannot be serviced according to established procedures.
• Report needed repairs and unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
• Respond to guest complaints and special requests, taking corrective action to achieve guest satisfaction.
• Minimize waste of supplies and amenities in laundry and housekeeping areas.
• Handle lost and found items according to established procedures.
• Assist regularly with deep-cleaning projects as needed.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health and safety laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
