About The Position

The Laundry Aide tends laundering machines to clean sheets, blankets, pillow coverings, and patients’ personal articles. The role includes loading washers, adding specified cleaning agents, transferring wet items through wringers and dryers, sorting and folding dry articles, and placing items in appropriate storage bins. The Laundry Aide also prepares and delivers residents’ clothing and linens to designated areas, maintains laundry equipment and work areas, and handles chemicals and soiled laundry according to established precautions and policies.

Requirements

• On-the-job training is provided.

Nice To Haves

• High school degree preferred.
• Previous experience in healthcare laundering processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fold and sort laundry, including blankets, sheets, towels, and personal clothing items.
• Hang clothes on racks according to names and numbers.
• Deliver patient/resident laundry to designated areas.
• Ensure patients’/residents’ clothes are ready to wear, in good condition, and placed properly.
• Understand the functions of various soaps and bleaches.
• Follow MSDS precautions for all chemicals used.
• Wash and dry clothes and linens.
• Keep equipment clean and follow cleaning schedules.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area, including sweeping and mopping the laundry area.
• Report needed repairs to the maintenance department.
• Operate large filters according to established schedules.
• Handle soiled laundry items properly.
• Clean and disinfect linen carts as required by policy and procedure.
• Empty washers and dryers as needed or requested.
• Operate water, gas, and electric cutoff switches and valves.
• Understand and follow the proper stain-removal process.
