About The Position

The Laundry Aide picks up, sorts, launders, and redistributes personal laundry for assigned residents. The role ensures personal items are properly labeled and distributed for laundering or dry cleaning by outside services, and returned items are checked and delivered to residents. Duties include washing laundry at appropriate temperatures with suitable detergents and cleaning chemicals, operating washers and dryers, laundering resident belongings as needed, and collecting soiled hand towels and distributing clean ones. The Laundry Aide reports worn or unusable items and supply needs to the supervisor, assists with distribution of house linens, and is familiar with housekeeper duties to provide coverage when needed.

Requirements

One year of high school education.
Good verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills in English.
Previous housekeeping or laundry experience.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Ability to organize routine schedules and duties to complete daily responsibilities.
Ability to make independent decisions in the supervisor's absence.
Interest in and desire to work with older adults.

Responsibilities

Collect soiled resident clothing from resident rooms and utility rooms, and receive other items from nursing personnel for laundering.
Separate items for laundering and outside dry-cleaning services; check clothing and add name tags as needed.
Check returned laundry and distribute it to residents.
Wash laundry at proper temperatures using appropriate types and amounts of detergents and other cleaning chemicals.
Operate washing machines and dryers as part of the laundry process.
Advise the supervisor about items that are worn out or unusable so families can be notified.
Launder posies, sheepskins, light bedspreads, and other resident belongings as needed.
Sort and distribute laundered items to resident rooms and storage areas as appropriate.
Collect soiled hand towels from resident rooms and distribute clean towels.
Advise the supervisor of laundry supply needs.
Assist with distribution of house linens from the linen service as needed.
Be familiar with housekeeper duties and responsibilities to provide coverage if needed.
