About The Position

As a Launch Coordinator at General Motors, you will play a key role in shaping world‑class manufacturing operations. You’ll work with a group to partner closely with engineering, production and maintenance teams to implement lean systems and drive performance improvements across the plant. Your team will help develop standardized work for new products, support major launches, and lead continuous improvement initiatives that elevate safety, quality, and efficiency. Success in this role requires agility, curiosity, and the ability to perform in a fast‑paced, highly collaborative manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of manufacturing launch experience
  • Proficiency in lean manufacturing tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Project, Word, PowerPoint), and analytical or business software.
  • Strong analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving abilities with a track record of implementing process improvements.
  • Familiarity with automotive manufacturing standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of all required Global Manufacturing System (GMS) training.
  • Prior experience in automotive manufacturing, production operations, or high‑volume industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, systems, and production technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage (+ coach and teach) Launch Core Team on three shifts. Comprised of Launch Team Leader, 3 Launch Techs, Launch Electrician and Launch Mechanic.
  • Communicate LCT activities verbally at production meetings and through email correspondence.
  • Determine shipping requirements using TMaCS and Appendix E10.
  • Generate PFEP.
  • Liaison between Parma Plant and HQ functional groups.
  • Plan and execute MRD runs.
  • Track cell launch progress and present to staff monthly at Launch Wall Review.
  • Attend new model calls as required. (Roll-outs, quality concerns, layouts, etc.)
  • Keep abreast of die issues as related to shipments and Metal Assembly POA parts.
  • Champion lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste in time, materials, labor, machine utilization, and other non‑value‑added activities.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement process changes that enhance manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and operational stability.
  • Build and maintain operating plans that ensure effective allocation of labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, throughput optimization, and cost savings.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to provide support and drive cross‑functional problem‑solving.
