About The Position

Mardian Concrete Pumping is looking for a full-time LASER SCREED OPERATOR for our PHOENIX branch. This position is responsible for operating specialized equipment to accurately place, level, and finish large concrete pours, ensuring the concrete meets project specifications for depth and pitch. Responsibilities include machine setup, calibration, maintenance, performing on-site quality checks, and collaborating with concrete crews to maintain a smooth and safe workflow. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various weather conditions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or GED) plus any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance of this position.
  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • Class A CDL.
  • Familiar with Somero Laser Screeds.
  • Ability to manage his/her own workload.
  • Must possess strong communication skills.
  • High level of accountability, discipline, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of and with a team.
  • Must have a positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Willingness to take a drug and alcohol test as well as a background check.
  • Experience operating laser screed equipment.
  • Familiarity with concrete placement and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to read and understand project specifications and blueprints.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Class A CDL license.
  • Valid DOT medical card.
  • Forklift certification through the company program is preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification through an accredited program is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate, operate, and perform minor maintenance on laser screed machines.
  • Control and adjust the screed's depth, slope, and width to meet project specifications.
  • Use tools like pokers and smart levels to verify depth, slope, and alignment, ensuring a high-quality finish.
  • Assist with preparing the concrete pour area, including site layout and grading.
  • Work closely with the concrete crew, site supervisors, and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and material flow.
  • Physical ability to work in various weather conditions and perform duties like lifting and pushing.
  • Attention to detail to ensure precision and quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Play an active role in the development of the safety culture, making safety a natural part of all work performed.
  • Identify and report safety concerns.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform assigned duties in a safe manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols and reporting any equipment issues.
