The Laser Operator is responsible for completing work travelers by following operation procedures, accurately cutting parts per work instructions and drawings, and correctly clocking into the correct job while running. This role involves inspecting parts per print, accurately filling out travelers for production quantities and material used, and keeping the machine in good working condition, including following a preventative maintenance schedule for cleaning lenses and mirrors. The operator will machine parts with the provided program and consult with the Machine Shop Supervisor and programmer before altering programs. Responsibilities also include maintaining and organizing the staging area for future jobs, preparing for future jobs by setting up the next sheet material to cut by staging in order of priority, and operating multiple machines when cycle times and machining conditions permit. The role requires maintaining a clean and safe work area at all times, assisting the machine shop in other functions when caught up on work travelers, and assisting with machine maintenance when necessary. Any and all other duties as assigned by management are also part of the role.
