Large CNC Machining - 2nd shift

About The Position

Fairbanks Morse Engine is hiring a Large CNC Machining operator to set up and operate an individual large CNC machine tool. The role works from drawings, process documents, program tapes, manuscripts, and verbal instructions, following standard work instructions and machine requirements. Operators may use large CNC mills, horizontal or vertical lathes, machining centers, and horizontal boring bars. The position is on second shift, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with a $1 per hour shift differential.

Requirements

High school diploma.
3–5 years of experience operating CNC and/or equivalent machinery.
Ability to read and understand blueprints and engineering requirements.
Ability to use inspection measuring devices.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods and move about the facility.
Ability to stay organized and self-manage tasks through completion.

Nice To Haves

Experience programming at the machine.

Responsibilities

Set up machines using the tools and equipment required by standard work instructions and machine requirements.
Establish reference points and set offsets; preset tools when required.
Make trial runs or prove out tapes as required.
Perform work to the indicated tolerances.
Operate two machines simultaneously when required, or perform other duties such as deburring, checking work, and presetting tools during machine cycles.
Maintain standard work files, program files, fixtures, and tooling.
Keep the machine clean and perform daily routine maintenance checks.
Handle medium-weight materials by hand and heavier materials using a hoist or crane.
