About The Position

Under the direction of a Crew Leader, the Landscaper constructs, plants, maintains, and repairs new landscape areas in assigned sections of campus. The role operates grounds-maintenance equipment, prunes trees and shrubs, removes trash and debris, and monitors and activates irrigation systems. The Landscaper may apply fertilizer and pesticides and may drive utility vehicles to and from worksites. Other related responsibilities may be assigned. This position must be performed in person at an Emory University location; remote work is not an option.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of landscape or grounds-maintenance experience.
• Some positions may require a valid Category 24 Ornamental and Turf Control Pesticide Applicators License from the Georgia Department of Agriculture, or the ability to obtain certification within six months of employment.
• Some positions may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
• Some positions may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, and twist.

Responsibilities

• Construct, plant, maintain, and repair landscape areas in assigned campus sections.
• Operate grounds-maintenance equipment, including lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, backpack and street blowers, and pressure washers.
• Prune trees and shrubs.
• Remove trash and debris from assigned campus areas.
• Monitor and activate irrigation systems.
• May apply fertilizer and pesticides to landscape areas.
• May drive utility vehicles to and from worksites.
• Perform related responsibilities as required.
