About The Position

AFW is seeking a Groundskeeper to provide professional landscaping services for its facility and maintain the cleanliness and exterior appearance of the property. The role involves ongoing landscaping work, routine care and minor repairs of landscaping equipment, and collaboration with the maintenance team to keep the grounds and building clean and properly cared for. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. AFW provides all training.

Requirements

Knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the ability to use it safely.
Knowledge of fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides used in grounds care and gardening.
Experience using power tools, pruning tools, and lawn mowers.
Previous experience as a groundskeeper, gardener, or in a similar role.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including all shifts, holidays, and weekends.
High school diploma or GED preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted in lieu of a diploma.
Ability to work in confined and sometimes congested areas.
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for eight or more hours daily.
Ability to lift, grip, bend, kneel, stoop, and move merchandise for eight or more hours daily, with continuous use of arms, hands, fingers, eyes, legs, and back.
Ability to lift, lower, move, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, and handle or manipulate up to 100 pounds frequently.
Ability to work in variable environments with different lighting, loud exterior noise, and varying flooring.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and fit-for-duty exam upon job offer.

Responsibilities

Follow AFW safety policies and procedures and promote safety awareness.
Mow lawns, prune bushes and trees, edge walkways, and maintain a manicured appearance.
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on lawn-care equipment and tools.
Carry out special landscaping or planting projects as directed by the AFW management team.
Work with the maintenance team to keep the grounds and building clean and up to AFW standards.
Plant and care for shrubs, trees, plants, and flowers.
Spray weeds and insects using chemicals approved by AFW.
Report vandalism, property destruction, and suspicious behavior to management.
Report property issues and potential liabilities to the AFW management team, with recommendations for addressing them.
Spread salt at Colorado stores, pick up litter, and rake and bag leaves.
Repair fences, gates, walls, and irrigation systems using carpentry, masonry, and painting tools.
Operate trucks and power equipment as needed, including mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers in Colorado, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws.
Work efficiently without direct supervision.
Maintain a neat and safe work environment.
Perform other duties assigned or directed by the supervisor.
