About The Position

VHB’s Land Development Intern program in Worcester, Massachusetts, introduces students to the workforce through hands-on learning in a supportive yet challenging environment. The program complements academic learning with real-world experience and helps interns explore related practice areas as they consider their career paths. Land Development engineers develop creative solutions for challenging development projects and contribute throughout project stages, including preliminary research, site survey, conceptual and final design, permitting, and construction. Interns work with VHB staff across disciplines, clients, and consultants to help projects meet client needs.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in engineering or a related field.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Team oriented, with the ability to work independently.
Self-motivated with attention to detail.
Strong work ethic and desire to learn and achieve.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
Ability to work on a computer remotely if necessary.
Ability to travel locally and complete fieldwork if necessary.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of drawing and mapping tools such as AutoCAD and GIS.
Strong interest in transportation, land development, urban design, real estate, environmental, institutional, or energy sectors.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner.
Assist in developing planning and engineering solutions.
Assist with data mining and visualization.
Perform data analysis and calculations.
Collect field data and provide other on-site project support.
Prepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports.
