About The Position

Oak Valley Health is seeking an experienced Labour Relations Advisor to provide strategic labour relations support across our organization. Reporting to the Manager, Employee & Labour Relations, you will partner closely with leaders, HR colleagues, and union representatives to address complex labour relations matters, mitigate risk, and support organizational priorities. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to leaders, providing guidance on collective agreement interpretation, grievance resolution, workplace investigations, organizational change, and labour relations best practices. You will play a key role in fostering positive labour-management relationships while supporting a fair, consistent, and legally compliant workplace.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive labour relations experience within a unionized environment.
  • Experience managing complex grievances, investigations, and dispute resolution matters.
  • Direct experience supporting or participating in collective bargaining processes.
  • Strong knowledge of labour and employment legislation, including the Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, and related legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic advice and influence leaders on complex employee and labour relations matters.
  • Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities, with strong judgment and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare sector experience and knowledge of healthcare collective agreements (CUPE, ONA, OPSEU) are considered strong assets.
  • CHRL designation, or equivalent advanced labour relations credentials, are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic labour relations advice and coaching to leaders on collective agreement interpretation, employee relations matters, performance management, and workplace investigations.
  • Manage complex grievances, mediations, and dispute resolution processes, including preparation for arbitration proceedings.
  • Partner with leaders and HR colleagues to identify and address labour relations risks, workplace issues, and emerging trends.
  • Support collective bargaining activities, including research, proposal development, negotiations, and implementation of collective agreement changes.
  • Advise on organizational restructuring, workforce planning, and change initiatives to ensure compliance with collective agreements and labour legislation.
  • Lead or support complex workplace investigations and provide recommendations to mitigate organizational risk.
  • Analyze labour relations data and trends to identify opportunities for proactive solutions and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and deliver labour relations training, resources, and guidance for leaders and HR teams.
  • Contribute to policy development, process improvement initiatives, and organizational projects that enhance labour relations practices.
