Laboratory Aide- Monroe
About The Position
As a Laboratory Aide at Monroe Regional Hospital, you will collect patient samples for laboratory screenings, maintain inventory, and distribute supplies as part of the Clinical Laboratory team. The role includes collecting blood samples from neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in the outpatient service area, laboratory area, nursing floors, or emergency room; labeling and transporting specimens to the laboratory; and preparing urine specimens. You will also assist with charting and filing laboratory slips, answer telephone calls, and help keep the laboratory clean and orderly. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal phlebotomy program or previous experience, with the ability to demonstrate phlebotomy skills before employment.
Responsibilities
- Collect blood samples from neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in the laboratory outpatient service area, laboratory area, nursing floors, or emergency room.
- Label specimens and transport them to the laboratory for testing.
- Prepare urine specimens.
- Maintain supply inventory and notify leadership when supplies are needed.
- Assist with charting and filing laboratory slips.
- Answer the telephone.
- Help maintain the laboratory in a clean and orderly condition.
