Laboratory Aide-Monroe
About The Position
The Laboratory Aide collects patient samples for laboratory screenings, maintains inventory, and distributes supplies as a member of the Clinical Laboratory team. The role collects blood samples from neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in the laboratory outpatient service area, laboratory area, nursing floors, or emergency room. It also labels and transports specimens, prepares urine specimens, assists with laboratory documentation and telephone calls, and helps keep the laboratory clean and orderly. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a formal phlebotomy program or previous experience, with the ability to demonstrate phlebotomy skills before employment.
Responsibilities
- Collect blood samples from neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in the laboratory outpatient service area, laboratory area, nursing floors, or emergency room.
- Label specimens and transport them to the laboratory for testing.
- Prepare urine specimens.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and notify leadership when supplies are needed.
- Assist with charting and filing laboratory slips.
- Answer the telephone.
- Help maintain the laboratory in a clean and orderly condition.
