About The Position

The Lab Technician works in an Authentication Center, where luxury goods are processed, authenticated, and photographed before being listed on the website. This role operates testing and imaging equipment, records results, works with emerging technologies, and supports quality control. The position is suited to a self-motivated person interested in entering the jewelry industry who can adapt quickly in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

The RealReal operates Authentication Centers in New Jersey and Arizona. The company describes its work as authenticating and reselling luxury goods in support of the circular economy.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Be a highly motivated problem solver with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Working knowledge of Google Docs and Gmail.
• Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.
• Self-motivation and a drive to achieve results.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Adaptability and openness to change.
• Math skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate an XRF machine to assign precious metal components accurately.
• Enter XRF readings into a database.
• Operate an X-Ray machine to image fashion products accurately.
• Enter X-Ray readings into a database.
• Work with emerging technologies as they are added to daily processes.
• Create baseline data feedback.
• Scan items to locations.
• Conduct quality control reviews of authenticator XRF readings to check compliance with SOPs and authentication standards.
• Document and report quality control findings, keeping accurate records and providing visibility into quality trends.
