About The Position

FASHIONPHILE is a luxury re-commerce company focused on extending the life cycle of products and making ultra-luxury fashion more accessible. The Authentication Specialist evaluates and authenticates pre-owned luxury handbags and accessories from brands including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Prada, and Hermes. The role includes researching authenticity indicators, documenting findings, helping create authentication guides, and participating in group learning sessions. Employees attend Fashionphile University Authentication and are certified on all brands carried by the company.

This position is fully on-site at FASHIONPHILE’s Chelsea, NY Flagship location. The regular schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Candidates must be flexible to work holidays and some weekends according to business needs; overtime may also be required.

• Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to research and solve problems that may not have definitive answers in a guidebook.
• Extreme attention to detail to prevent errors.
• Strong use of vision, smell, and touch to detect authenticity.
• Ability to stand and perform inspections over a long period of time.

• Prior experience working with luxury handbag brands.
• Experience with customer service communication via email.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough authentication assessments on high-end luxury handbags and accessories.
• Research facts and patterns related to authenticity online and stay up to date with designer trends.
• Document and maintain accurate records of authentication findings.
• Create or assist in creating written and pictorial guides and documentation regarding brand authentication.
• Participate in group information sessions on special topics in authentication.
• Attend Fashionphile University Authentication and become certified on all brands carried by the company.
