About The Position

The Lab Courier picks up and delivers documents, mail, packages, laboratory specimens, equipment, materials, supplies, and other items within the organization and to institutional clients. The role ensures timely, safe, and accurate delivery and requires flexibility, reliability, organization, and the ability to operate vehicles in all weather and driving conditions.

The courier follows traffic laws, Department of Transportation standards, and applicable training and procedures. They interact professionally with clients, respond to urgent dispatch requests, use technology to support customer service, and help ensure vehicles are clean, stocked, and ready for the next route.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Excellent driving record.
• Michigan Chauffeur License required upon hire.
• Michigan Driver's License required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Safely and promptly pick up and deliver documents, mail, packages, laboratory specimens, equipment, materials, supplies, and other items from appropriate locations.
• Follow traffic laws and Department of Transportation standards and training.
• Represent Corewell Health professionally and uphold its values of compassion, collaboration, courage, and curiosity.
• Follow applicable protocols and procedures when accidents or incidents occur, consult vehicle guidebooks, and notify leadership immediately.
• Interact professionally with clients and provide excellent customer service.
• Bring client service problems to the supervisor's attention.
• Maintain and complete the daily log.
• Prepare the vehicle for the next route by refueling it and returning keys and equipment to the designated area.
• Keep vehicles clean, organized, and ready for the next driver, and advise the supervisor of repair needs.
• Use technology to provide services to customers.
• Respond to urgent dispatch requests based on business and customer needs.
