About The Position

The Lab Courier picks up and delivers documents, mail, packages, laboratory specimens, equipment, materials, supplies, and other items within the organization and to institutional clients. The role ensures deliveries are timely, safe, and accurate and requires flexibility, reliability, organization, and the ability to operate vehicles in all weather and driving conditions.

The courier follows traffic laws, Department of Transportation standards and training, vehicle protocols, and procedures for accidents or incidents. The role includes professional client interactions and customer service, maintaining daily logs, preparing vehicles for the next route, reporting repair needs, and using technology to support service delivery. Couriers also respond to urgent dispatch requests based on business and customer needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Excellent driving record.
• Michigan chauffeur license required upon hire.
• Michigan driver's license required upon hire.
• Ability to operate vehicles in all weather and driving conditions.

Responsibilities

• Safely pick up and deliver documents, mail, packages, laboratory specimens, equipment, materials, supplies, and other items in a timely manner.
• Follow traffic laws and Department of Transportation standards and training.
• Represent Corewell Health professionally and uphold its values of compassion, collaboration, courage, and curiosity.
• Follow appropriate protocols and procedures for accidents or incidents, including vehicle guidebooks and immediate notification of leadership.
• Interact professionally with clients and provide excellent customer service.
• Report client service problems to the supervisor.
• Maintain and complete the daily log.
• Prepare the vehicle for the following route by refueling it and returning keys and equipment to the designated area.
• Keep vehicles clean, organized, and ready for the next driver.
• Advise the supervisor of vehicle repair needs.
• Use technology to provide services to customers.
• Respond to urgent dispatch requests based on business and customer needs.
