Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician I)
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician I) in Miramar, Florida. The role supports diagnostic laboratory operations by processing specimens, entering test orders, preparing specimens for analysis, and delivering processed specimens to the laboratory or other facilities. The position is scheduled Monday to Friday, 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Most work is on the night shift, but staffing needs may require weekends, holidays, on-call availability, or overtime. Pay starts at $18.33 per hour, with a possible shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours. Candidates may also be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No prior experience is required.
- Flexibility to work primarily night shifts and, depending on staffing needs, weekends, holidays, on call, and overtime.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.

- Previous experience in a production or medical environment.
Responsibilities
- Enter test-order data.
- Presort specimens and pick up and deliver processed specimens to the laboratory.
- Centrifuge and aliquot specimens.
- Process specimens for transfer to additional facilities.
- Prepare laboratory specimens for various analyses and testing.
- Identify problems with specimen types, such as missing information, and resolve issues in some cases.
- Understand the relationship between tests ordered and specimens received.
