Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician I)
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician I) to support specimen processing and laboratory operations in Tucker, Georgia. The role involves entering test orders, handling and preparing specimens, and identifying issues with specimens or missing information. The position is primarily overnight, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM. Weekend, holiday, on-call, and overtime work may be required based on staffing needs. The listed pay starts at $17.75 per hour, with possible shift differential for some or all hours and potential annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No experience required.
- Flexibility to work primarily night shifts; weekends, holidays, on-call work, and overtime may be required based on staffing needs.

- Previous experience in a production or medical environment.
Responsibilities
- Enter test orders; presort specimens; pick up and deliver processed specimens to the laboratory; centrifuge and aliquot specimens.
- Process specimens to be sent to additional facilities.
- Prepare laboratory specimens for various analyses and testing.
- Identify problems with specimen types, including missing information, and resolve issues in some cases.
- Understand the relationship between tests ordered and specimens received.
