Lab Assistant - Third Shift - 18% Differential
About The Position
The Lab Assistant supports patient care by ensuring laboratory specimens are properly processed, prepared, routed, and stored. The role involves recognizing when corrective action is needed and implementing effective solutions while working in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and required personal protective equipment. The position champions safety, compliance, and quality control and has routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Employees must maintain strict confidentiality, follow applicable privacy and security standards, and access PHI only when needed to perform job duties. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible third-shift position at the Austin Lab Wall Street location, scheduled Friday through Monday for a hybrid four-day work week. Hours are 9:00 p.m.–8:30 a.m. Friday, 7:00 p.m.–5:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 9:00 p.m.–8:30 a.m. Monday, for 40 scheduled hours per week.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing.
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms.
Nice To Haves
- 1–2 years of related experience in a clinical laboratory, data entry, or production.
