Lab Assistant - Third Shift - 18% Differential
About The Position
The Lab Assistant supports the patient care process by properly processing, preparing, routing, and storing laboratory specimens. The role identifies when corrective action is needed and implements effective solutions while championing safety, compliance, and quality control. Work takes place in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and required personal protective equipment. The position has routine access to Protected Health Information; employees must maintain strict confidentiality and access PHI only as needed to perform their job duties, following applicable privacy and security standards. This is a full-time third-shift position at Austin Lab Wall Street, 9200 Wall Street. The schedule is Friday through Monday: 9 p.m.–8:30 a.m. Friday and Monday, and 7 p.m.–5:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The schedule is described as a hybrid four-day work week. The position is benefit eligible and offers opportunities for professional growth.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing.
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms.
Nice To Haves
- 1–2 years of related experience in a clinical laboratory, data entry, or production.
