Lab Assistant - Third Shift - 18% Differential
About The Position
The Lab Assistant supports the patient care process by ensuring laboratory specimens are properly processed, prepared, routed, and stored. The role involves recognizing when corrective action is needed and implementing effective solutions, while championing safety, compliance, and quality control. Work takes place in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and required PPE. The position has routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI); employees must maintain strict confidentiality, follow privacy and security standards, and access PHI only as needed for their duties. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible third-shift position at the Austin Lab Wall Street location. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., for 40 hours per week.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing.
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms.
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and PPE requirements.
Nice To Haves
- One to two years of related experience in a clinical laboratory, data entry, or production.
