Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician I)
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician I) in Miramar, Florida. The role supports laboratory testing by handling, preparing, and processing specimens, entering test-order data, and coordinating specimen movement within the laboratory and to additional facilities. The position is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. The stated pay starts at $18.33 per hour; eligible employees may receive a shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours. Candidates may also be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation. Salary offers consider relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications where applicable, and market and organizational factors.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- No experience required.
- Flexibility to work primarily night shifts; weekends, holidays, on-call work, and overtime may be required based on staffing needs.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a production or medical environment is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Enter test-order data; presort specimens; pick up and deliver processed specimens to the laboratory; centrifuge and aliquot specimens.
- Process specimens to be sent to additional facilities.
- Prepare laboratory specimens for various analyses and testing.
- Identify problems and, in some cases, resolve issues involving specimen types, such as missing information.
- Understand the relationship between tests ordered and specimens received.
