Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician I)
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician I) in Miramar, Florida. The position is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, from 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM, with the majority of work on the night shift. Pay starts at $18.33 per hour. An employee may be eligible for a shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours; further details will be provided if an offer is extended. Salary offers consider factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market conditions, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation. The role supports laboratory testing by receiving, preparing, processing, and routing specimens. It requires accurate data entry, attention to detail, and flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on call, and overtime if needed based on staffing.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Flexibility to work primarily night shifts; weekends, holidays, on-call work, and overtime may be required based on staffing needs.

- Previous experience in a production or medical environment is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Enter test order data.
- Presort specimens and pick up and deliver processed specimens to the laboratory.
- Centrifuge and aliquot specimens.
- Process specimens for transfer to additional facilities.
- Prepare laboratory specimens for various analyses and tests.
- Identify problems with specimen types, such as missing information, and resolve issues in some cases.
- Understand the relationship between tests ordered and specimens received.
