About The Position

Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician I) to support specimen processing and laboratory operations in Tampa, Florida. The role includes entering test orders, preparing and routing specimens, and identifying specimen-related issues. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM, with rotational weekends. Work on weekends, holidays, on call, and overtime may also be required based on staffing needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Flexibility to work primarily night shifts; weekends, holidays, on-call work, and overtime may be required based on staffing needs.

Previous experience in a production or medical environment.

Responsibilities

Enter test orders and presort, pick up, and deliver processed specimens to the laboratory.
Centrifuge and aliquot specimens.
Process specimens to be sent to additional facilities.
Prepare laboratory specimens for various analyses and testing.
Identify problems and, in some cases, resolve specimen issues such as missing information.
Understand the relationship between tests ordered and specimens received.
