Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician I)
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Lab Assistant (Specimen Technician I) in Miramar, Florida. The position involves processing specimens and supporting laboratory testing, including entering test orders, sorting and transporting specimens, centrifuging and aliquoting samples, and preparing specimens for analysis. The role also requires recognizing specimen-related problems and understanding how ordered tests correspond to received specimens. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Weekend, holiday, on-call, and overtime work may be required based on staffing needs. Pay starts at $18.33 per hour, with a possible shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours. Successful candidates may also be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Flexibility to work primarily night shifts and, based on staffing needs, weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and overtime.

Responsibilities
- Enter test orders.
- Presort specimens and pick up and deliver processed specimens to the laboratory.
- Centrifuge and aliquot specimens.
- Process specimens to be sent to additional facilities.
- Prepare laboratory specimens for various analyses and testing.
- Identify problems with specimen types, including missing information, and resolve issues in some cases.
- Understand the relationship between tests ordered and specimens received.
