About The Position

The Lab Assistant I supports the daily operations, maintenance, and organization of the Tissue lab to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality workflow execution. The role helps prepare consumables and set up sequencing runs, maintains equipment and records, manages inventory and supplies, and supports biobanking and general laboratory operations. It also contributes to safe, organized lab practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or educational equivalent.
• 0–1 years of industry-related experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Organized, detail-oriented, hardworking, and able to take positive direction.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to multitask.
• Ability to work with Microsoft Excel.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of PPE and safety regulations.
• Knowledge of some medical terminology and histopathology practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily laboratory cleaning and decontamination to maintain a safe, compliant environment.
• Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Support sequencing workflows by preparing consumables, labeling, and assisting with run setup.
• Manage inventory, restocking, and Kanban systems to ensure laboratory readiness.
• Prepare cleaning solutions, such as ethanol and bleach, according to SOPs.
• Maintain accurate equipment calibration and maintenance records.
• Handle waste disposal in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Support biobanking and general laboratory operations as needed.
• Maintain organization of laboratory materials and supplies.
• Coordinate equipment reservations and usage.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives, such as 5S.
• Collaborate with team members to support efficient, high-quality laboratory operations.
